SUMMARY:Using Geographic Information System Mapping Technology for Efficient Municipal Management
DESCRIPTION:A Workshop for Municipal Leaders  \n\n\n\nTHIS SESSION WILL BE HELD IN BRANDON – VICTORIA INN \n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is for municipal leaders to learn about how mapping technology can support municipaldecision-making and operations. Mapping technology\, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS)\, can beapplied to municipal operations in numerous ways: \n\n\n\n\nCataloguing municipal assets to support sound decisions on critical services\n\n\n\nConnecting lots with ownership information for effective communication with residents (e.g.\,Planning Act notices)\n\n\n\nSupporting public works operations with information on transportation networks\n\n\n\nCentralizing and tracking regulatory documents such as water use license applications anddrainage authorizations\, and\n\n\n\nmanaging municipal developments.Many municipalities have already made significant investments in GIS that can be leveraged movingforward. This workshop explores funding and partnership options including practical steps to plan forand implement GIS technology.
