It focuses on the strategic elements regarding administration\, leadership and finance. \n\n\n\nThe boot camp space is limited to a maximum of 30 registrants for interaction and networking purposes. Additional offerings may be possible based on demand. \n\n\n\nSession length will be 1.5 days with a fun evening of municipal story time around the “campfire”. The daytime sessions will be made up of high-level presentation and group discussions. It is understood that the depot of quality & experience from the participants is invaluable\, and the majority of the learning will come from sharing circles. \n\n\n\nTopics will include: \n\n\n\n\nThe Financial Lens\n\n\n\nThe Better Budget\n\n\n\nSmart Moves\n\n\n\nAdministrative Case Studies\n\n\n\nPolitical Acumen its value and application\n\n\n\nLeadership & Ethics\n\n\n\n\nThe Financial Lens \n\n\n\nKeeping Council on course with their mission is one of the most important responsibilities of the CAO. The majority of their goals involve money. This session aims to explain how finance\, financial goals\, and financial performance play an integral role in the strategic planning and decision-making process\, particularly in the implementation and monitoring stages. \n\n\n\nThe Better Budget \n\n\n\nFind out how you can add excitement and efficiency to the budget process and deliberations. \n\n\n\nSmart Moves \n\n\n\nLike going to the candy store\, this session will be about some treats that can wow your council\, staff and/or community. \n\n\n\nAdministrative Case Studies \n\n\n\nThe group will review a series of real-world examples of administrative and policy “less than best practices”. Through the session participants will develop\, discuss and determine alternative courses of action and protentional pre-exemptive interventions to avoid the issues in the first place. \n\n\n\nPolitical Acumen – its Value and Application \n\n\n\nUnderstanding the political environment that one faces in their work place is very important. Being able to manage the politics of a situation is not only important to CAO’s\, but it can be the difference between career success and failure. \n\n\n\nLeadership and Ethics \n\n\n\nAll leaders face difficult decisions daily that will create ethical dilemmas. This session will focus on the tools available to assist senior administration in making these decisions. \n\n\n\n\nGUEST ROOM BOOKING LINK\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMMA CANCELLATION POLICY

SUMMARY:PROPOSED BY-LAW AMENDMENTS AT 2024 AGM WEBINAR TO REVIEW
DESCRIPTION:Message from the President \n\n\n\nIn 2022 we finalized our new strategic plan which made Membership\, Advocacy\, Professionalism\, and Partnership the key pillars of our work as an association. \n\n\n\nThree strategic objectives of this new plan were to: \n\n\n\n\nProvide a highly acclaimed\, professional accreditation exclusive to the MMA\n\n\n\nFacilitate high-quality\, needs-based\, accessible\, and timely professional development that meets the needs of members at all stages of their career.\n\n\n\nEnsure MMA is recognized as a professional and competent association.\n\n\n\n\nTo achieve these objectives\, the MMA’s CMMA Review committee continues to work with the University of Manitoba to evaluate our CMMA curriculum to ensure the program delivers upon the needs of today’s administrators. \n\n\n\nArising from that work\, it was determined that our current program\, as it is practiced today\, does not fully comply with the Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association Inc Act. \n\n\n\nBuilding on the work we did in 2023 with the amendments made to our Constitution (By-Law 1)\, By-law 4\, and the adoption of By-Law 2\, the Executive Council is proposing the adoption of a new By-Law 3\, which will govern the CMMA program and bring it into full compliance with our Act. \n\n\n\nAttached you will find the proposed resolution\, and a copy of the proposed by-law. At our upcoming AGM on September 11\, 2024\, you will have an opportunity to vote on this proposal. \n\n\n\nTo ensure that members have a better understanding of the proposed improvement\, and to have an opportunity to ask questions prior to the AGM – the Executive Council will host a webinar to present the changes and the intentions and objectives behind them. That webinar will be on Thursday\, August 22nd from 10am to 11am.  \n\n\n\nClick Here to Register for the Webinar \n\n\n\nWe are excited to bring this improvement forward to our AGM for consideration. This new by-law represents an important step towards delivering on the vision of this organization and on the objectives of our strategic plan. I encourage you to take time to review the changes and join the discussion on August 22nd to see how these improvements will deliver value to members. \n\n\n\nDuane Nicol \n\n\n\nPresident \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers will receive 2 PD points for attending this webinar
