Currently the Government of Manitoba\, in partnership with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is developing a Municipal Adaptation Planning Guidebook & Workbook for Manitoba Municipalities\, designed to lead municipalities through the adaptation planning process.  The completion of this guidebook that provides a step-by-step process of climate hazard\, vulnerability and risk assessment will also contribute to a robust\, data -driven Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA)\, which is a regulatory requirement for local governments.  \n\n\n\nWe need your input on the resources that municipalities need to integrate climate risk into decision-making and planning. Join the March 5th webinar to learn about the forthcoming guidebook\, provide input on the final product so that it meets your needs\, and share your experiences with tackling climate impacts in your municipalities.  \n\n\n\nThe 1- hour webinar will feature presentations from the Government of Manitoba on their approach to building resilience at the municipal level\, and from IISD on the current efforts to produce the Adaptation Planning Guidebook & Workbook for Manitoba Municipalities\, as well as plenty of opportunities to share your experiences with municipal climate action and provide input to shape the future of municipal adaptation planning in Manitoba. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is an award-winning\, independent think tank working to accelerate solutions for a stable climate\, sustainable resource management\, and fair economies. Our work inspires better decisions and sparks meaningful action to help people and the planet thrive. We shine a light on what can be achieved when governments\, businesses\, non-profits\, and communities come together. IISD’s staff of more than 200 people come from across the globe and from many disciplines. With offices in Winnipeg\, Geneva\, Ottawa\, and Toronto\, our work affects lives in more than 100 countries. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nManitoba Environment and Climate Change \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nManitoba Environment and Climate Change is implementing initiatives designed to inform Manitobans of climate impacts and hazards and the actions \, tools and strategies required to promote a vibrant environment and prosperous economy for present and future generations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are a member and wish to receive professional development credits for attending\, please RSVP.
