As a strong supporter of MMA and its members, MAMEC plays a roll in advancing initiatives that enhance emergency response capabilities. MMA is pleased to share this important training opportunity announcement with MAMEC as part of our continued commitment to supporting the preparedness and well-being of our members and the broader community.
MAMEC is proud to offer Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) training January 13 & 14, 2025 in Dauphin and January 15 & 16, 2025 in Dauphin.
This international program originally designed in the United States by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now being offered in a select few provinces in Canada. MAMEC will be the first to offer this training in Manitoba. CERT has been designed to help communities build trained volunteer teams to assist with emergency events. CERT Basic Training includes research validated guidance to teach members what to do before, during and after the hazards their community may face. This two day training is part of a series of courses that will teach theory and practical application in emergency response for MEC’s and volunteer teams. The course instructor will be Perron Goodyear from London, Ontario. Perron is a certified CERT trainer. He is a graduate of Royal Roads University and a professional emergency manager.
There will be three additional courses taught in 2025 to complete this certification process, the outcome will be more trained volunteers and better prepared communities. MAMEC will provide the CERT equipment for the training course.
We hope you will take advantage of this amazing opportunity to build additional supports for your community emergency response team. Please register early as space will be limited to 30 students per class.
