As President of the Manitoba Municipal Administrators (MMA), I would like to extend our appreciation to the Office of the Auditor General of Manitoba for their diligent work and thorough review of the concerns related to this report.
The MMA strongly supports initiatives that promote transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in municipal governance. We look forward to reviewing the report in detail and are committed to working with our members and the Office of the Auditor General to learn from the findings.
Our association is committed to professionalism and excellence in municipal administration. In August 2024, MMA formally requested that the Province of Manitoba amend the MMA Inc. Act to enable the association to implement higher professional standards for municipal administrators across the province. While we are still waiting on the province to formally respond to our request, we strongly believe this change will strengthen the integrity and effectiveness of local government and reinforce public trust.
We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the Auditor General’s office to ensure these recommendations are effectively communicated to our members.
