LEARNING PAYROLL – LEVEL 1

We have been fortunate to partner with Assiniboine Community College to provide 2 sessions to our members. The first session “Learning Payroll I” will be held on July 15, 2024 and the second session “Learning Payroll II” will be held in August 12, 2024. Both sessions will be at the Four Points Sheraton, 2935 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg.

As part of our recently launched Competency Framework, this session will focus on the PROCESS aspect of municipal administration, and the key COMPETENCY of FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT and SUB COMPETENCY of INTERNAL CONTROL.

An introduction to the payroll function designed for new staff with no or limited exposure to payroll, or those returning to payroll after a break. Learn about processing and reporting requirements, and the payroll practitioner’s key role in statutory withholding and remittance. Registrants will receive printed material.
The first-step in payroll – July 15, 2024
Payroll Admin 1 is an introductory workshop designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the foundational concepts and procedures in payroll administration. This workshop covers employment classifications, essential payroll legislation, and the preparation of payroll documentation. Participants will engage in analytical problem-solving exercises, review questions, and practical assignments to build the necessary skills for processing payroll accurately and efficiently.
