Municipal Adaptation Planning Process: We Need Your Input!

Virtual Event Virtual Event

March 5 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

This is a free 1 hour informational webinar in partnership with MMA, IISD and the Province of Manitoba.

Since 2018, the Manitoba Government has worked to enhance the climate resiliency of communities and businesses by supporting adaptation planning and action in the province. Currently the Government of Manitoba, in partnership with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is developing a Municipal Adaptation Planning Guidebook & Workbook for Manitoba Municipalities, designed to lead municipalities through the adaptation planning process.  The completion of this guidebook that provides a step-by-step process of climate hazard, vulnerability and risk assessment will also contribute to a robust, data -driven Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (HRVA), which is a regulatory requirement for local governments.

We need your input on the resources that municipalities need to integrate climate risk into decision-making and planning. Join the March 5th webinar to learn about the forthcoming guidebook, provide input on the final product so that it meets your needs, and share your experiences with tackling climate impacts in your municipalities.

The 1- hour webinar will feature presentations from the Government of Manitoba on their approach to building resilience at the municipal level, and from IISD on the current efforts to produce the Adaptation Planning Guidebook & Workbook for Manitoba Municipalities, as well as plenty of opportunities to share your experiences with municipal climate action and provide input to shape the future of municipal adaptation planning in Manitoba.
