PROPOSED BY-LAW AMENDMENTS AT 2024 AGM WEBINAR TO REVIEW
August 22 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Message from the President
In 2022 we finalized our new strategic plan which made Membership, Advocacy, Professionalism, and Partnership the key pillars of our work as an association.
Three strategic objectives of this new plan were to:
- Provide a highly acclaimed, professional accreditation exclusive to the MMA
- Facilitate high-quality, needs-based, accessible, and timely professional development that meets the needs of members at all stages of their career.
- Ensure MMA is recognized as a professional and competent association.
To achieve these objectives, the MMA’s CMMA Review committee continues to work with the University of Manitoba to evaluate our CMMA curriculum to ensure the program delivers upon the needs of today’s administrators.
Arising from that work, it was determined that our current program, as it is practiced today, does not fully comply with the Manitoba Municipal Administrators Association Inc Act.
Building on the work we did in 2023 with the amendments made to our Constitution (By-Law 1), By-law 4, and the adoption of By-Law 2, the Executive Council is proposing the adoption of a new By-Law 3, which will govern the CMMA program and bring it into full compliance with our Act.
Attached you will find the proposed resolution, and a copy of the proposed by-law. At our upcoming AGM on September 11, 2024, you will have an opportunity to vote on this proposal.
To ensure that members have a better understanding of the proposed improvement, and to have an opportunity to ask questions prior to the AGM – the Executive Council will host a webinar to present the changes and the intentions and objectives behind them. That webinar will be on Thursday, August 22nd from 10am to 11am.

We are excited to bring this improvement forward to our AGM for consideration. This new by-law represents an important step towards delivering on the vision of this organization and on the objectives of our strategic plan. I encourage you to take time to review the changes and join the discussion on August 22nd to see how these improvements will deliver value to members.
