The RM of Hanover, the largest rural municipality in Manitoba, is seeking a qualified individual with strong leadership skills to be our new CAO.
Located 30 minutes south-east of Winnipeg, the Rural Municipality of Hanover has a growing population of over 17,261 residents with an operating municipal budget of 12.2 million.

Key Responsibilities
In addition to those responsibilities and duties prescribed in the Municipal Act, and the powers and duties assigned by by-law or resolution of Council, the CAO job would entail:
- Acting Administrative head of the municipality;
- Establish, coordinate, direct and supervise the implementation of the policies and programs of Council;
- Advise and submit reports to Council to facilitate effective policy decisions;
- Attend meetings of Council and Council committees;
- Hire, supervise, direct, and support managers for all our programs and services such as finance, protective services, planning and development, recreation, policy development, grant applications, and all relevant documentation required for the orderly operation of the RM;
- Ensure enforcement of by-laws and policies of the RM;
- Recommend to Council proper staffing levels;
- Perform any additional duties assigned from time to time by Council Resolution.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate that has at least 5 years of municipal experience. As a CAO, you are required to have familiarity with the Municipal Act and its application. You would need experience leading major infrastructure projects, intermunicipal initiatives, or economic development strategies as our RM continues to grow and develop.
A CAO should have a proven ability to lead and inspire teams, resolve conflicts, and manage change effectively as change is a constant in our municipality. You would need to have excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. We will give preference to applicants who have obtained CMMA accreditation.
