The Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Leadership in Municipal Administration, established by the Honourable Anita Neville, is a prestigious recognition of excellence, integrity, and innovation in Manitoba’s municipal public service. Established to celebrate the contributions and impact of municipal administrators, this annual award honours those who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and leadership within local government organisations.
Administered by the Manitoba Municipal Administrators (MMA), this award serves not only to recognize individual excellence but also to inspire others in the profession to strive for service innovation, principled leadership, and community impact.
Award Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated on the following:
- Contribution to and impact on their community and/or organization
- Exemplification of professional standards and ethics
- Support for peer development and advancement of the profession
- Fostering of service excellence and innovation
- Demonstrated thought leadership in municipal governance

Nominations Open: May 12, 2025
Deadline: June 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
Who Can Be Nominated?
Eligible nominees must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be a member in good standing of the MMA
- Be an administrator in a Manitoba municipal government
- Be an administrator in a public or non-profit organization supporting one or more Manitoba municipal governments (e.g., library, planning district, conservation district)
Note: Elected officials, MMA Members not in ‘good standing’, and organizations/groups are not eligible.
Who Can Submit a Nomination?
Nominations may be submitted by:
- Members of the MMA
- Municipal councils, via an official resolution
- Boards of directors of public/non-profit organizations supporting Manitoba municipal governments

- A completed nomination form
- 1 to 3 letters of reference
- Up to 5 supporting documents (e.g., certificates, media clippings, examples of work)

Recognition
The selected recipient will be honoured in a ceremony hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba at Government House and will receive:
- A medal and certificate presented by the Lieutenant Governor
- Recognition on the Leadership in Municipal Administration perpetual plaque
- The respect and recognition of their peers
